Overview of Projects

Greengate is focused on developing quality wind energy projects across Alberta in areas with available transmission capacity. Greengate is currently developing nine wind energy projects across Alberta totalling 1,550 MW on approximately 200,000 acres of private land. Two wind energy projects totaling 450 MW are near shovel-ready, including the fully-permitted 150 MW Halkirk I Wind Project, which will be Alberta’s largest operating wind energy project upon completion in 2011.

• Deregulated power generation market
• Excellent wind resources and land availability
• Merchant power market, participation in competitive RFP process is not required
• Well suited for the development of large projects
• Projects under development are located in areas of the province that have excellent wind resources and are in close proximity to transmission lines with available capacity
• Projects are geographically diverse minimizing the potential adverse effects of wind energy production variability on the transmission system
